Sterling Silver St. Brigid's Cross w/ Irish Connemara Green Marble Pendant with 18" Silver Chain
This sterling silver St. Brigid’s cross pendant has the fine detail of the rushwork in the casting. This is made in Ireland and Hallmarked at Dublin Castle, Ireland, to prove its silver content and place of manufacture. St Brigid's Cross necklet/pendant is a miniature representation of the rush work cross that is still part of the Irish faith tradition. The rush work crosses were made by children to give as presents to neighbours to help protect their houses throughout the year. Legend has it that St. Brigid fashioned the cross from a floor mat while she was tending to her father. The sterling silver cross has five pieces of specially selected Connemara marble intarsia embedded in the design which are retro polished after they are set in. The reverse side of the cross has the rush work design in relief. Irish Connemara Green Marble is a decorative marble, valued for its banded and rippled patterns and multifarious shades of green colour. The many hues of green are particularly noteworthy, ranging from the night green of the mineral diopside, to dark green of actinolite, to lighter green of talc, to sea green of chlorite, and to pistachio green of epidote. The marble in your piece of jewelry will be different from the marble in the photograph. This is its charm and makes the piece of Ireland in your jewelry unique to you. The Seller specially selects the best gem quality green colour in their own quarry for your jewelry.
